How to make an iced matcha latte

Everyone is drinking it, every cafe is serving it and with a few simple tools and ingredients you can be enjoying an iced matcha latte in the comfort of your home.

Why are iced matcha lattes so popular? Firstly, the unique taste – creamy milk, savoury matcha, and refreshing ice is a winning combination. Then it’s the health benefits, reduced caffeine and high antioxidant content make it a perfect alternative to coffee. Its vibrant colour also gets credit for its fame, the bright green makes it pure joy to look at as your sip.

Here is our highly sought-after iced matcha latte recipe.

Serves 1 person
Ingredients
  • T2 100% Certified Organic Matcha
  • 150 ml/5 fl oz milk of choice
  • Sweetener, if using
  • Ice cubes
Tools
  • Matcha Bamboo Scoop
  • Matcha bowl
  • Everyday Matcha Bamboo Whisk
  • Mug or borosilicate glass

Method

  • 1

Add ½ – 1 teaspoon of T2 100% Certified Organic Matcha to your matcha bowl, then add 100ml of 80°C (176°F) water.

If you like sweeter flavours, try T2 Salted Matcha Milkshake for sweet toffee flavours, with a sea salt sprinkle.

  • 2

Whisk firmly, using the T2 Everyday Matcha Whisk, in an M shape for at least 20 seconds until it forms a smooth paste.

Whisking is an important step to getting a smooth, creamy matcha. Whisk with quick movements back and forth in a M shape, using your wrist while you hold the bowl with your other hand.

  • 3

Pour matcha into a glass, add a sweetener of your choice, then top with milk and plenty of ice.

To complement matcha, try these sweeteners: add maple syrup for a subtle caramel flavour, brown sugar for similarly caramel flavour or brown rice syrup for a malt flavour.

  • 4

    Stir well and enjoy!
